Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2026
This policy applies to all apps and services published by Smooth Brains Limited, a company registered in England and Wales ("we", "us", "our"). It explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and your rights in relation to it. We process personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
BusZap
Real-time London bus arrivals for iOS.
Location data
BusZap may request access to your device's location while the app is in use, solely to identify bus stops near you. This processing is performed entirely on your device; your location is never transmitted to us or any third party, and is never stored beyond your current session. The legal basis for this processing is your consent, which you grant or withhold via iOS system permissions. You may withdraw consent at any time in your device settings, and may search for stops by name without granting location access.
Data stored on your device
BusZap stores bus stop reference data and a short-lived cache of arrival times locally on your device. This data is sourced from Transport for London's public dataset and contains no personal information. It is retained only as long as the app is installed and is removed automatically upon uninstallation.
Network requests
To retrieve live arrival times, BusZap sends requests to our servers containing only the bus stop identifiers you are viewing. No personal data, location information, or device identifiers are included in these requests. Our servers may retain standard operational logs — including IP addresses — for a limited period for security and reliability purposes. This processing is carried out on the basis of our legitimate interests in maintaining a secure and functional service. Arrival data is sourced from Transport for London; their Privacy & Cookies Policy applies to data obtained from their API.
Analytics and tracking
BusZap does not include any analytics, crash reporting, advertising, or behavioural tracking. We do not collect data about how you use the app.
Accounts and identifiers
BusZap requires no account, registration, or sign-in. We do not assign or store any identifier linked to you or your device. We have no means of identifying individual users.
General
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, or erase personal data we hold about you, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability where applicable. Given the minimal data we collect, most of these rights can be exercised immediately by uninstalling the app or revoking location permissions. For any other requests, please contact us using the details below. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk .
Children's privacy
Our apps are not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal data to us, please contact us and we will take prompt steps to delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may revise this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any material changes. Where required by law, we will notify you of significant changes. Continued use of our apps following an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
